On Hamas, Fences, And Propaganda

The Egypt-Gaza border remains porous as Egypt struggles to contain the influx of Gazans into Egypt. They're now dealing directly with Hamas, who now sees that they've tapped out the propaganda coup of breaching the border with Egypt and is now working to contain the numbers entering Egypt.

The propaganda war Hamas used to bash Israel is not without some most entertaining photos. You know, the ones where starving Gazans who are supposedly without gas and electricity are busy scurrying for carpets, granite countertops, and motorcycles.

That's on top of the agitprop brigade of Hamas thugs meeting by candle light in the middle of the day with the curtains drawn to keep the harsh sunlight from poring through and completely ruining a perfect propaganda moment.

The ongoing media war against Israel continues as the Arab League uses the imagery of the past week as a sledgehammer against Israel. That den of scum and villany never has a problem when their own members slaughter people, but when Israel takes action to defend its population against terrorist attacks, they can't respond with a statement quickly enough.

The EU is contemplating sending its observers back to Rafeh crossing. Like that will do much good. It's not like they stopped the incessant smuggling of weapons and equipment into Gaza. Given that Egypt hasn't exactly stepped up to the plate to defend its border against infiltration by Hamas and other terrorist groups tunneling below the border, one can only wonder what having a few EU observers at one point along the fence will do. As it is, the EU is playing the moral equivalence game, condemning the rocket attacks against Israel while calling for an end to the Israeli blockade. Right - because the two are analogous.
