John McCain is not in the lead and doesn't have any momentum to work with. He's still trailing Mitt Romney in the only place that matters - total number of delegates. While McCain was busy winning South Carolina, Romney won in Nevada, and retains a significant lead in delegates.
Over among Democrats, Hillary won in Nevada for the popular vote, but Obama squeaked out a win on delegates. That would put Obama ahead in the only category that counts - delegates, but when you factor in the total number of delegates and superdelegates pledged to Hillary thus far, she retains a commanding lead.
The conventions select their nominations based on the total number of delegates pledged to the candidates, and not on the popular vote. I really wish the media would remember this inalienable fact.
