Fenced

While Egypt continues to struggle to shut down the border, and there are even reports that Egypt is shutting the Sinai off from the rest of Egypt to prevent further infiltration of Gazan thugs into the country (several thousand already detained?), Hamas continues its war effort against Israel. Egypt may be restricting vehicle traffic for now, but anyone can cross the border on foot.

Israel and Egypt supposedly also have met in secret about the security situation, but one has to wonder just how secret such a meeting was if it's blared on the pages of the Jerusalem Post. Egypt is blaming Israel for creating the crisis. Nice way to show solidarity with your Arab brothers, but those same Arab brothers are wholly responsible given that they initiated a war against Israel and Israel has no obligation to provide power to the very enemy that seeks Israel's destruction.

Fatah and Hamas are busy fighting for control over the border. That's what I've predicted and we may yet see another outbreak of the Palestinian civil war. They simply can't help themselves. Fatah knows that if Hamas controls the border, they'll be able to resupply with weapons and equipment far too easily and Hamas knows that if Fatah controls the border that they will have a more difficult time resupplying in their war effort. It's a power play.

Meanwhile, the UN Human Rights Commission also continues its propaganda war against Israel, reviving the old canard that Zionism is racism. Ignored is the fact that wherever the Palestinians have dominion - and that would be Gaza and parts of the West Bank ceded to the Palestinians under the Oslo Accords and the Gaza-Jericho Accords, Wye, and Taba, those areas are now Jew-free. That's what the Palestinians seek for all of Israel.

Of course, Israel's own fifth column had no problem going to Jordan to pay their respects for Palestinian terrorist George Habash who died earlier this week. Some in the Knesset would like to see charges brought. I doubt it would happen, but it's nice to see that some people can tell the difference between good and evil. Habash was responsible for the death of hundreds of Israelis and together with Arafat, brought about modern terrorism.

Rantings of a Sandmonkey wonders how exactly the poor Gazans could spend $480 million in two weeks' time. Good question. He also notes that the Egyptian government is purposefully cutting off the supply of goods to Sinai to choke off any further interest in Palestinians crossing the border. Of course, that means that Egyptians living in Sinai are suffering as a result.
