Imus Returning to the Morning

I can't say that I'm happy to see Don Imus return to the morning, especially at the expense of the WABC tandem of Curtis and Kuby. Imus will be taking over that slot and activist lawyer Ron Kuby will go back to defending ACLU types full time and Curtis will join up with John Gambling in the next time slot after the morning drive-time.

Imus can be a preening gasbag, and his comments on the Rutgers lady's basketball team got him fired from his last gig at WFAN and the MSNBC simulcast. He'd lost his sense of humor a long time ago, which is what made him an icon on talk radio and got him inducted in to the Broadcasting Hall of Fame. In recent years, he'd taken to doing interviews of a political nature, which made him a Beltway favorite and I'd occasionally listen to him just to see what some of those interviewed were thinking although by the time of the Rutgers kerfuffle, I'd given up listening to him on a regular basis in favor of Curtis and Kuby and the sports duo Mike and Mike at ESPN radio. This move will make it even easier to stick with Mike and Mike.

So far, the WABC schedule still shows the current lineup, but expect that to change.
