Google's Odd Choices

Google could not find someone to design a logo to commemorate 9/11 or Veteran's Day or Memorial Day, but found someone to honor the 50th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik.

Curious. Very curious.

Interesting set of priorities over there (and here - Google owns Blogger).

Don't be evil? How about don't be clueless?

UPDATE:
Did they honor the moon landing in 1999 to commemorate the 30th anniversary? Nope.

Selective history.

Honoring Sputnik by itself isn't an issue. When they do it in the absence of honoring other important dates and events, you have a problem.

Google definitely seems to skew away from days that might be considered patriotic for Americans.

UPDATE:
Google did honor the moon landing in 2005.
