You have to hand it to Norman Hsu. If you think he's backed into a corner (or has backed himself in to a corner), he thinks of it as an opportunity.
He gets pleads guilty to a charge of grand theft in 1992 and instead of showing up for sentencing he goes on the lam. He gets rearrested a few weeks ago, only to go on the lam again and is arrested in Colorado.
Additional charges are pending in California and New York.
However, the original guilty plea is still in play, but Hsu now claims that the old plea deal should be tossed out because the judge who approved the deal has since retired.
Audacious.
There's no way he should win on such a claim since he created the conditions that resulted in the case dragging on for more than a decade. He cannot enjoy the benefit of the situation he created by evading justice for so long.
