In Jersey City, New Jersey we learn of a truck driver who was found stabbed to death. Investigators found ID, which suggested he was a Costa Rican immigrant. They then went to his apartment, where they found another, different, identification. So, they don't know who the dead man is.
Originally identified as Arnaldo Lopez of Costa Rica, investigators now aren't sure; they searched his room and turned up at least one other driver's license from another jurisdiction.Robbery appears to be the motive.
"We found some other identification and now have to positively ascertain who he is," DeFazio said. He wouldn't reveal what name was on the other license, and said his immigration status couldn't be determined.
The truck was parked on Senate Place at Van Winkle Avenue, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said. Lopez had a room nearby in a boarding house on Tonnelle Avenue, the prosecutor said.
The driver had several stab wounds, but died from one to the chest that hit the heart, investigators said. He also had secondary defense and attack wounds elsewhere on his body, according to an autopsy performed Saturday at the Regional Medical Examiner's Office in Newark.
The dead driver was known among fellow drivers for carrying large amounts of cash, leading investigators to believe the victim may have known his attacker, DeFazio said.
Detectives said they found "thousands" of dollars in his room, but none in the cab or on his body, the prosecutor said.
