Corzine To Resume Duties Monday

“The governor expects to resume his duties on Monday,” said Anthony Coley, Mr. Corzine’s communications director.

To formalize the transfer of power, the governor’s chief of staff, Tom Shea, is expected to deliver a letter over the weekend to the State Senate president, Richard J. Codey, who has served as acting governor during Mr. Corzine’s convalescence, Mr. Coley said.

It is not yet clear whether there will be any formal announcement or ceremony marking the transfer. If so, Trenton officials assume it would be held either at the State House or at Drumthwacket, the governor’s mansion in Princeton, where Mr. Corzine, whose permanent home is in Hoboken, is now recovering.

With Drumthwacket just a short distance from Trenton, and the mansion equipped with videoconferencing technology, the transfer should not pose major logistical problems for Mr. Corzine or for the lawmakers who need to communicate with him.
