Iran Caught Fauxtographing Evidence

The mad mullahs in Iran are pulling out all the stops to try and rally Iranians to their madness. They've apparently engaged in fauxtography. Fars, the Iranian news agency, published the photo as supposed proof that the US military was backing an insurgency inside Iran.

The problem is that the photo is so clumsily photo edited that it was spotted as a fake shortly after publication. EC Marm first spotted the fraud. Dar ul Harb showed how it was done. Charles at LGF publicized the information and next thing you know, it's picked up by news outlets the world over.

This is the photo in question:

Nearly every element in the photo is edited and cloned. From the grenades to the ammo clips to the box that says Made in the USA.

So, to what end is Iran going ahead and producing this kind of fraudulent evidence? I think this photo fraud was done not to convince the rest of the world, but to convince the Iranian people that the US is scheming against Iran. It's to rally support inside the country - knowing full well that since the mad mullahs control the media, they can control the message. It doesn't matter what bloggers found here because we're not the target audience and the Iranians themselves aren't likely to see this.

It's a prop by the mad mullahs. A real bad prop, but a prop nonetheless.
