Obliterated By Reality

When will the media finally remove the nonsensical stock statement that a truce/ceasefire is currently in place between the terrorist groups Fatah and Hamas as well as one between the Palestinians and Israelis. From the BBC:
Gunmen have killed two Fatah-allied Palestinian security officials in the southern Gaza Strip.
Officials said a third security official was injured in the ambush in the town of Khan Younis.

Sources in the mainstream Fatah group blamed the ruling militant group Hamas for the attack. So far there has been no comment from Hamas.

There are fears that the attack could obliterate an already fragile truce between the two Palestinian factions.
There is no truce between the Palestinian terrorist groups, not when five more thugs were killed and 10 others kidnapped in the latest batch of violence. That includes assassination attempts, which comes just hours after a series of still other kidnappings and attacks by both Fatah and Hamas. This has been going on for weeks now and shows no sign of abating since neither Fatah nor Hamas is going to back down. Both are seeking to dominate the PA, and neither appears interested in actually governing, let alone making peace with Israel in a 2-state solution advocated by the road map and the minimum acceptable to Israel.

The same can be said for a supposed truce between Israel and the Palestinians. Near daily rocket attacks by Palestinian terrorists continue unabated. Sderot is hit regularly with the rockets fired from Gaza. That should be a clear signal that there is no truce or ceasefire. Yet, the media, and some within the Palestinian and Israeli circles, refuse to call the violence for what it is.

For those Americans and Europeans who are still remaining in Gaza despite the incessant violence and near anarchy, their governments are warning them to get out. You would think that the daily fighting right outside your door might be a dead giveaway that you need to get out of Dodge.

And what do Israelis think of the situation? 77% disapprove of the way that Olmert is handling the situation. IDF Chief of Staff says that he's willing to resign and that mistakes were made, but wont quit.

Hizbullah still wants to get some kind of a prisoner swap going, but Israel doesn't appear willing to go that route.
