For your enjoyment:
No trip to Northern New Jersey to view the lights is complete without a tour of Victoria Lane in Mahwah, New Jersey. The main attraction is a huge setup - and I mean huge of lights, music, fountains, and Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, and other entertainers on the roof. Santa even makes an appearance.
As the cars progress through the cul de saq, you'll end up passing two other houses that provide significant displays in their own right, but are insignificant when compared to the Force down the block.
There are the houses along Highway 59 near the New York State Thruway in Suffern. If you're heading North, they'll be on the right. It's an annual ritual for this passel of houses to light up the night with a huge shared display.
Then there are the houses of Dyker Heights in Brooklyn. Here's a slideshow of lights from elsewhere in the NYC Metro Area.
Here's a light display from Fort Pierce, but the sound quality suffers from wind being picked up by the microphone. Here's one from Amarillo, Texas. Still more videos at Youtube, including this one.
CBS Sunday Morning had a Bill Geist feature on the big light displays, but this one from Pickerington, Ohio takes the cake:
That's 15 houses all hooked up to each other via computer. Apparently there are more houses on that block that want to get added to the light show.
UPDATE 12/24/2006:
And for those in the NYC Metro area, don't miss the Internet Yule Log, courtesy of The Man!
Technorati: christmas lights, xmas lights , light display.
