Researchers appear to have found an interesting trend among some of those affected by Ground Zero cough. They appear to be deficient in a particular enzyme. Now, this could help researchers and doctors track those who might be more susceptible to illness down the road, and help with treatment options. However, we're still talking about a very small sample size - only 90 people. The key will be how this data translates into a wider study. More here.
Meanwhile, the remains discovered at Ground Zero over the past week have been so well preserved that they should yield DNA for identification purposes. So far, more than 130 pieces have been recovered, and I'd expect that many more will be found as the search expands to other areas along the access road built in the weeks following the attacks to permit access to clearing the rest of the site.
The finds have proven to reawaken mixed emotions. Some may find closure, but others find old wounds ripped open by the new finds.
