September 29, 2006 — Billionaire liberal financier George Soros, who spent millions of his fortune trying to oust President Bush in 2004, yesterday said he hopes to stay out of politics from now on.Like any good investor, it seems that Soros may be considering cutting his losses. His money has fueled any number of 527 groups, including MoveOn.org, and have been on the losing side in nearly every political campaign they've run thus far. You can be sure that this news will not be taken well by those groups which relied on Soros' largesse.
“In the future, I’d very much like to get disengaged from politics,” Soros said at a Council on Foreign Relations meeting on the Upper East Side. “I’m interested in policy and not in politics.”
That said, it might take one of those MoveOn.org candidates to win in a high profile race to get him back in the game.
