Hanging in the Balance

The polls have closed in Connecticut, but the results will be coming in shortly. Will Joe Lieberman pull out the win over uber leftie Ned Lamont, or will Lamont show the rest of the Democratic party that this is what happens to anyone who doesn't toe the far left's ideological line.

Earlier today, Joe's website crashed, and Lieberman's camp said that his blog was hacked, as was his email service. By Lamont backers. Later reporting says that there's no direct evidence Lamont backers had anything to do with it. Lamont backers counter by saying that Lieberman's site crashed because they paid for lousy service.

Well, who exactly would try to kill Lieberman's site on the day of the election? Hmmmm.

Todays craziness is only the latest in the most vile campaign I've seen in a long time. Lamont backers have portrayed Lieberman in blackface, had him engaging in sexual acts, and engaged in all kinds of nastiness, including anti-Semitic rantings. That's who backs Lamont, and if you're worried about the future of Democrats in Connecticut, you've got real reason to be.

UPDATE:
Early returns are in: 52-47.87 Lamont over Lieberman with 50.27% reporting.

UPDATE:
Drudge has the flashing siren, and calls the election for Lamont. With 84% reporting, it's 51.9 to 48.1, Lamont leading. The Hartford Courant hasn't called the election yet, all while noting Lamont's lead.
