I've refrained from posting on the Frisch-Goldberg matter because I had thought that others have covered the subject quite well, but the situation is simply too good an insight into the left's dementia not to ignore any longer. It has become a full metal jacket meltdown of those on the Left with the persistent and consistent vicious attacks against Jeff Goldstein who runs Protein Wisdom. His site has been brought down repeatedly by DDOS attacks.
The genesis of this incident is when an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of Arizona, Deb Frisch, proceeded to make death threats against Jeff and his 2-year old son. And Jeff thought that this was extraordinary and deserved the kind of attention that death threats deserve.
Let me repeat that last part in case you thought I was kidding.
An adjunct professor of psychology, Deb Frisch, proceeded to make repeated death threats against Jeff's two year old son.
Frisch's name has already been established as a verb - never a good sign for the named individual. She will forever be consigned to the annals of Internet lore as the nutcase who made death threats against a 2-year old.
She's added a few extra c's to crazy for her nonsensical ravings. And while she thinks that she can beg for a ceasefire in the matter, preempt a firing by tendering a letter of resignation, and now is trying to blame Jeff for the situation getting out of hand or casting the matter as a joke which fell flat on Jeff, it was Frisch's own actions that showcase what the Left has been reduced to.
And she continues to believe that violence is the solution. After getting herself in trouble with her employer at the University of Arizona (tendered resignation after all), she agrees with posters who exhort to violence. This is someone who is teaching college kids about psychology. You can count on her trying to find another job in academia. Would you want her teaching your kids?
It's more than simply women behaving badly on the Internet.
Where are the adults in the room. Certainly they're by and large absent from the left. Many of the leading sites are silent on the matter, and some have actually taken to blaming Jeff for the situation - even to the point of claiming that Jeff was making things up or taking email out of context. Confederate Yankee has the details in a pretty thorough posting on the matter.
Are you kidding me?
There are lefties who think that this is a matter shaded in grey or a line shrouded in mystery that might not have been entirely crossed? Yes, there are.
The sad fact is that this was out of bounds even in the rough and tumble world of 'net posting and 'netiquette. I've been blogging and posting online since 1989. I've seen some real nasty episodes, but never have I seen anyone threaten anyone's children - let alone a 2-year old.
I'm not going to link to those websites because they shouldn't benefit from my meager traffic. However, they aren't that difficult to find. They're among some of the largest lefty websites out there.
In fact, I probably shouldn't bother linking to Frisch either, considering that she's probably doing this now for the attention. Never mind that her career in academia is probably over - unless she plans on joining Evergreen College in Washington State.
There are many folks who run political blogs or run blogs as media critics who'd like to think that they're going to keep the big media outlets honest. Situations like this can serve to devalue the work of lots of folks, not just those involved.
You want to disagree with me or other folks- that's fine. I've gotten plenty of nasty comments over the years. Quite a few ad hominem attacks. If you're going to blog or post regularly - you're going to get nasty comments. You develop a thick skin for that kind of stuff. If you don't, you quickly find other things to do with your time. Basketweaving for example.
Anything more than that crosses a line that should not be crossed. It really is as simple as that, and anyone who thinks otherwise really ought to reexamine their emotional and psychological makeup.
Oh, and step away from the keyboard and put your hands on your head. Get a massage. Take a chill pill. Cool out. If you find yourself on the verge of writing death threats, you've gone too far about 10 paragraphs ago. And I don't consider it a cry for help. No. It's not about getting thousands of people to see just how deranged you are. It's about watching law enforcement get involved in a way that might result in more than just a few blog posts.
