Flooding the Zone

The flooding throughout the Middle Atlantic and Northeast continues today, as some areas have begun to see waters recede, though downstream areas are still facing rising waters.

For additional reporting see the following:

New Jersey flooding concerns.

Upstate New York. The Times Union has ongoing coverage, including the washouts of I-88 in Central NY and problems on the Erie Canal, Mohawk River and other tributaries.

Pennsylvania communities are awaiting the cresting Delaware, Schuylkill, and Susquehanna Rivers (along with their tributaries). In New Hope, businesses along the historic and picturesque town are flooded out - as is the famous Bucks County Playhouse.

I love going to New Hope and Lamberville for the antiques and shopping, as well as the Delaware River running between the towns. The historic bridge linking the two towns was renovated just this past year.

Some folks are wondering why the Delaware River has flooded out three times in the past two years in such a catastrophic manner. Some point to development upstream. Others point to the release of water from reservoirs in NY. Many think additional flood control will need to be addressed.
