Flooding Continues in Northeast

The National Weather Service has a hydrology feature on its website that lets you track water levels on many rivers and other bodies of water. The Delaware River and Schuykill River are seeing some significant flooding, as are other rivers up and down the East Coast. The NYC Metro area has been largely spared of significant flooding, but some streams and creeks around the region are overwhelmed by the several inches of rain that have fallen today on top of the rain from earlier in the week.

UPDATE:
More than a dozen people have died, including two truck drivers on the NYS Thruway when a section of road was washed out early this morning. Other Interstate highways have also been closed due to flooding.

The situation is especially dire along the Delaware River and Susquehanna River, which is expected to crest later this evening and continue overnight. Thousands of people have been forced from their homes in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.

Rain is expected throughout the affected region through Friday as the front that has brought this deluge continues to remain stalled in the area.
