General Michael Hayden Confirmed at CIA

After hearing assurances he will be independent of the Pentagon, the Senate on Friday easily confirmed Gen. Michael Hayden, a career Air Force man, to head the CIA.

Hayden, a four-star general, currently is the top deputy to National Intelligence Director John Negroponte.

Hayden, 61, would be the first active-duty or retired military officer to run the spy agency in 25 years. He was approved by a vote of 78-15.
That's curious considering how much the anti-Hayden types wanted folks to believe that Hayden would not be a good leader of the CIA. Once again, it was the sound and fury of political spin signifying not much of anything. Bush got his way on the new head of the CIA. Let's hope that Hayden can continue the house cleaning and get rid of the leakers who have been undermining US national security by providing classified information to journalists who have gone on to print such information for all the world to see.
