Abbas Vows To Prevent Civil War

Curious that it's left to Abbas to utter those words - civil war - in relation to the ongoing violence between various terrorist group factions in Gaza and the West Bank. Hamas and Fatah's various militias have been slugging it out, and the media has been desperately trying to avoid calling the situation a civil war despite the fact that Abbas is actively trying to thwart Hamas from asserting and assuming power after the elections that swept Hamas into power. Fatah was tossed aside, and Abbas is trying to retain some power for himself and his minions.

Both sides in this conflict are well armed, maintain caches of weapons and have bases of operation from which to launch attacks against their political enemies as well as Israel. The ongoing firefights between Hamas and Fatah are a definitive sign that a civil war is underway regardless of what Abbas wants people to believe - and he's hardly in control of the situation as it is.

And the Palestinian people are once again stuck in the middle between the clowns and jokers whose sole motivation appears to be nihlism and destruction.
