Iran plans to have 54,000 centrifuges in operation as soon as it can. What can it do with that many centrifuges? Well, build significant numbers of nuclear weapons as well as providing sufficient materials to build nuclear power plants (that can turn around and power the nuclear weapons program).
Of course, there's a big jump between the 164 centrifuges that Iran claims to have already tested and the 54,000 centrifuges it wants. However, they do plan to have 3,000 in operation by the end of a year.
Seixon and Captain Ed both comment.
