You may know that Saddam is currently standing trial for murdering 140 Shiites at Dujail. The trial has been troubled by repeated outbursts by Saddam, who's refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of the court on numerous occasions, and whose chief judge has stepped down to be replaced by a Kurd.
Those circumstances aside, remember that Saddam was one of the worst human rights abusers of the last 30 years. His minions would throw hapless victims off rooftops to their death. Hack limbs off. Cut out tongues. But don't take my word for it.

It's as real as it gets. These are true snuff films and torture sessions caught on tape by Saddam's own loyalists.
It's stomach churning and nauseating to see, but this is why Saddam sits on the docket like an ordinary thug. And that's why we must bear witness to his atrocities.

The Washington Post reports that the trial has been postponed because some witnesses were unavailable (some due to being in Mecca on Haj).
