Apology Not Accepted

Whiplash Nagin claims to have apologized for the comments he made about declaring that God wants New Orleans to be a "chocolate city." I don't buy it. Not in the slightest.

Nagin has made these comments before, and they shouldn't have been tolerated then, and they shouldn't be tolerated now. Nagin has undermined the rebuilding efforts at every opportunity. At every crucial decision, Nagin has waffled and reversed course, which is why I refer to him by the moniker* Whiplash.

Everything Nagin is saying at this point is politically motivated. He knows that there's an election upcoming, and he needs to get his core supporters behind him. These comments are designed to stoke the passions of folks who he feels are his supporters.

The problem for him, and for all of New Orleans is that the core isn't there anymore and they're in no position to trust anything Nagin has to say. New Orleans residents are angry, frustrated, and many simply haven't come back to New Orleans because they can't wait for the state and local government to get their act together to rebuild the worst hit areas.

But if we're going to be resigned to a chocolate New Orleans, can we at least have the city without the nuts?

UPDATE:
Whiplash apologies for the wrath of God comments saying that he doesn't quite know what happened there. I'll say. His brain cramped? The single firing neuron in his brain decided to take a holiday? Or, he simply realized that he went over the edge and is now trying to claw back over.

However, this doesn't help matters any. He ducks an interview on Anderson Cooper's CNN show last nite claiming that it's an emergency, but is seen at a local eatery.
Now, they didn't say what the emergency was. And we're not here to judge a person's emergencies. But, last we checked, the mayor was eating dinner at a restaurant called Bourbon House on the corner of Bourbon Street.
Nice priorities there. Like the public wasn't going to find out?
