Amazing thing just happened at the NYT. They mentioned Dafur, Sudan. And it wasn't Kristof who published it in the op-ed section. That's the good news.
The bad news? They focused on camels - calling them the leading player in Dafur's drama. Sorry, I'd say that's just a wee bit off.
The leading player is the Sudanese government that casts a blind eye to the genocidal activities of the janjaweed, or worse, condones those activities with support from Sudanese militias.
Heck, this report is little changed from last month's Newsweek's coverage of Zimbabwe's economic disaster at the hands of Mugabe, which focused on the elephants.
Apparently elephants and camels rate higher than hundreds of thousands dead, displaced, and economic and social misery for millions more.
