The Battle For Ground Zero, Part 67

After 9/11, NYC received nearly $20 billion in federal aid to deal with the crisis. Of that amount, $125 million for monitoring workers and to provide medical care for those affected by the collapse of the Twin Towers and the cleanup.

More than four years later, none of that $125 million has been spent, and the federal government has decided to take it back. This is a lesson that should not go unheeded. Money can be promised and then withdrawn if it is not used within a reasonable amount of time.

Meanwhile, the redesigns at Ground Zero continue as the cooling plant has been downsized to meet environmental and practical needs.
