The WSJ has an interesting roundup of the Hinrichs investigation, not to mention how the blogging/big media confluence may have affected the reporting on the story. It mentioned both Mark Tapscott and Michelle Malkin prominently, as well as Texas Rainmaker. Yet, Mark notes that the FBI could not confirm or deny that there were terror links - there's simply not enough information to be able to come to a definitive conclusion about intent and motive.*
Here's the curious part. Salvador Hernandez is the FBI Agent in Charge of the FBI in Oklahoma, and has been saying the same thing about the Hinrichs bombing investigation that University of Oklahoma President David Boren has said from day one - Hinrichs had no terrorists links. The problem is that they simply don't have enough information to make that conclusion, so we shouldn't be hearing definitive statements from Boren or Hernandez.
UPDATE:
*The FBI couldn't confirm or deny that Hinrichs tried to get into the stadium while the game was ongoing. We keep hearing that this was a simple case of suicide, but the circumstances simply don't add up.
Technorati: terrorism, suicide bomber, hinrichs, bomb.
