Steve Buscemi is looking to bring three of assassinated Dutch Filmmaker Theo Van Gogh's films to the screen in American indie versions. Van Gogh was assassinated by an Islamic terrorist, Mohammed Bouyeri, who didn't take kindly to Van Gogh's statements about Islamic fundamentalism in his films.
Bouyeri is completely unrepentant about his crime. He has said he would do it again if he had the chance.
It will be interesting to see what Buscemi does with Van Gogh's materials, but it's nice to see someone in Hollywood take note of someone else in the movie industry who was murdered for his political beliefs and art.
