Family members of 9/11 victims yesterday blasted an upcoming cultural conference that they charge will denigrate the memories of their loved ones on the fourth anniversary of the attacks. One would think that the LMDC would be more sensitive towards what kinds of cultural programs it puts on in relation to 9/11 themed events, but it would appear that they are either tone-deaf, or in the sway of groups that have a clear anti-American bias.
The group, 9/11 Families for a Safe Strong America, says an event hosted by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council will be filled with anti-American images, and will honor figures who are soft on terrorists.
The group was especially hard on the LMCC because the event — dubbed "What Comes Next: Cities, Art + Recovery, an International Summit" — includes an evening honoring the late author Susan Sontag.
They blasted Sontag for writing in the wake of the terror attacks that "whatever may be said of the perpetrators of [the] slaughter, they were not cowards."
