The Battle For Ground Zero, Part XXXV

Family members of 9/11 victims yesterday blasted an upcoming cultural conference that they charge will denigrate the memories of their loved ones on the fourth anniversary of the attacks.
The group, 9/11 Families for a Safe Strong America, says an event hosted by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council will be filled with anti-American images, and will honor figures who are soft on terrorists.

The group was especially hard on the LMCC because the event — dubbed "What Comes Next: Cities, Art + Recovery, an International Summit" — includes an evening honoring the late author Susan Sontag.

They blasted Sontag for writing in the wake of the terror attacks that "whatever may be said of the perpetrators of [the] slaughter, they were not cowards."
One would think that the LMDC would be more sensitive towards what kinds of cultural programs it puts on in relation to 9/11 themed events, but it would appear that they are either tone-deaf, or in the sway of groups that have a clear anti-American bias.
