It's not a surprise to see the NY Post editorial page getting behind Trump's plan for a rebuilt Twin Towers. After all, they've been complaining about the lack of anything being built so far. The Governor has failed to keep his promise of having steel ordered already in order for construction begin. The Governor also claims that the NYPD has signed off on the changes to the Freedom Tower, yet that cannot be possible if the plans for the tower haven't been finalized - and that isn't expected for at least another month.
Does the Post have concerns about the Trump plan? Sure. They think that he'll get slammed for restoring the height or going taller than the prior Twin Towers. This much is true, but rebuilding the towers taller does seem like the right thing to do. Of course, building something is the right thing to do.
In other related news, Brooklyn unveiled its memorial to those lost on 9/11. It is a 25-foot-tall bronze memorial in the shape of a speaking trumpet that was once used by NY firefighters to give warnings and instructions to crowds. It will send a beacon of light into the sky nightly from 9pm to 11pm daily. The memorial is located on Pier 69 in Bay Ridge, which was a staging and relief area in the days following the destruction of the WTC.
