In a move that cannot come a moment too soon, and was not unexpected in these quarters, CBS euthanized 60 Minutes II, which had spawned the Bush memo debacle. CBS still hasn't made a full accounting of the mess, nor have all the involved parties been held responsible for their actions.
Pulling the plug on this show, however, is a sign that CBS News knows that the product was fatally damaged by the Memogate. Too bad they didn't have the courage to fire all those involved, letting Dan Rather ride into the sunset instead of getting canned for his biased and inept reporting of the situation.
