Anti-Semitic Scrawlings Met With Quiet

Swastikas and death threats against Jews, including calls to kill all Jews on 7/14/2005, were scrawled on dozens of cars in a Queens neighborhood.

The "7-14-05" is the anniversary of when the Nazi Party outlawed all other political groups in Germany on July 14, 1933.

"I'm upset, it's scary," said Muhammad, 47, who has lived in the racially diverse, middle-class area for 13 years. "To see this is disturbing. Has anyone ever heard of change? It's 2005. This is senseless."

World War II Army veteran David Hecker, who helped liberate North Africa and Italy, said someone had vandalized his nearby Jewel Avenue building about a month ago. He suspected it may have been the same vandal striking again.

Those messages were met with riots, including cars overturned, dozens of casualties, and calls for a crusade. [ed: this paragraph is known as sarcasm and irony - no such violence actually occurred, nor is any call for a crusade actually intended or implied.]

Actually, calls were made to police to step up their investigations and catch the sicko who perpetrated this. This particular neighborhood has been hit in recent months by similar attacks. Local lawmakers are working with the community and police to catch the persons responsible.
