I've said for a long time that negotiating with terrorists is a real bad idea. Well, apparently the terrorists got paid anywhere from $1 million to $12+ million for the release of an Italian journalist (whose story post-release is subject to much discussion and there are serious holes in her story).
Terrorists got paid serious money for the release of an unserious journalist whose anti-US bent was well known (and there are individuals who think that she was in cahoots with said terrorists). Now, other terrorists will see that kidnapping terrorists will garner serious money.
What are the odds that kidnapping of journalists will rise exponentially in Iraq and elsewhere in order to gain access to money for continuing their deadly campaigns of terror.
